In the 21st century, access to healthcare should be a guarantee — not a gamble. As America faces rising healthcare costs, an aging population, hospital closures, and a wave of chronic illnesses, the need for bold but practical reform is clear. Our solution must be rooted in fairness, dignity, and a deep belief that health is a human right — not a privilege for the wealthy or well-employed.

1. A Public Option for All: Medicare Buy-In at Any Age

We believe in expanding Medicare carefully and deliberately, beginning with an easy, voluntary option: let every American buy into Medicare if they choose. Whether you're 27 or 57, you should have the right to choose a public healthcare plan that's stable, trustworthy, and not tied to your employer.

This approach creates competition, gives people control, and immediately strengthens the existing Medicare system without disruption.

2. Base-Level Emergency Coverage for Every American

No one in America should be denied life-saving care because they’re uninsured. We propose that basic emergency care be guaranteed for every American, regardless of income or status. This baseline safety net reduces uncompensated care burdens on hospitals and ensures no one fears calling an ambulance or visiting the ER.

Over time, this base-level care can expand to include urgent mental health, substance abuse care, and preventive services to keep people from falling through the cracks.

3. Dental, Vision, and Holistic Care Included

Dental and vision care are healthcare — period. From early detection of chronic illness to improving daily quality of life, these services must be included in all Medicare expansions. That includes coverage for:

  • Preventive dental cleanings and fillings

  • Eye exams, glasses, and necessary treatments

  • Oral surgeries and prosthetics

  • Hearing care and assistive devices

Additionally, a holistic approach to health means recognizing when medical care isn’t enough. For some patients, what they need most after a health crisis is:

  • Nutritious food support

  • Help with childcare

  • Housing stabilization

  • Transportation to appointments

We must build flexible support structures into federal and state programs that help people return to health and opportunity, not just the doctor’s office.

4. Keeping America’s Hospitals Open — Everywhere

Rural hospitals and community clinics are closing at alarming rates. We propose a multi-part plan to stabilize and strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the country:

  • Guaranteed operating funds for rural and underserved area hospitals, tied to access benchmarks.

  • Federal incentives for hospitals to expand into medically underserved regions.

  • Investment in research and training, including regional centers of excellence and public health labs.

  • Creation of national service or on-the-job training programs — similar to AmeriCorps or ROTC — to build the next generation of healthcare workers and keep talent in every state.

5. No More Health Savings Accounts — A Simpler, Fairer System

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) often benefit the wealthy, complicate care, and leave lower-income Americans behind. We propose eliminating HSAs and replacing them with a clear, simple model:

  • A flat buy-in or premium, based on income and household size

  • No hidden deductibles or surprise bills

  • No one pays more than their share — and no one is denied care for lack of a balance in their HSA

We must move away from complexity, means-testing, and confusing eligibility rules — and toward a system that treats everyone with dignity.

A Stronger, Healthier America

This is not just a healthcare plan. It’s a vision for the future. It’s a roadmap to protect every American, unleash economic potential, and restore trust in our institutions. We believe this plan reflects a deep truth: that freedom and opportunity begin with good health — and good health starts with all of us, together.
